Santa Claus will make a special trip to Union City Friday to turn on the borough’s Christmas lights and visit with children.

Santa will be driven into town on a Union City Volunteer Fire Department fire truck and turn on the lights at 6:30 p.m. on North Center Street, near Northwest Savings Bank.

He will visit with kids until 8 p.m., so be sure to bring your camera to get your photo taken with Santa.

Children ages 3 to 12 are invited to enter Santa’s Coming to Town coloring contest for a chance to win a seat next to Santa on the fire truck.

Coloring sheets are available in downtown Union City at Just For You Salon, 19 N. Main St., and the borough manager’s office, 13 S. Main St.

Sheets also are being distributed to students at Union City Elementary School.

Completed coloring sheets must be turned in to Just For You Salon and the borough manager’s office. They must be submitted by Monday, Nov. 23.

In case of inclement weather, the event will take place at St. Teresa’s Parish Center, 9 Third Ave.

Santa’s visit is sponsored by the Union City Parks and Recreation Commission.
