Union City resident Daniel C. Hopson was recently promoted to Chief Warrant Officer Four (CW4) in the U.S. Army during a ceremony at the George C. Marshall Center in Garmisch, Germany.
He was pinned with the CW4 rank by his children, Ericka and Sidney Hopson.
Opening remarks for the ceremony were made by Capt. Laurell Brault of the U.S. Navy.
The Army Warrant Officer is a self-aware and adaptive technical expert, combat leader, trainer and adviser.
Through progressive levels of expertise in assignments, training and education, the Warrant Officer administers, manages, maintains, operates and integrates Army systems and equipment across the full spectrum of Army operations.
In a wide variety of units, Warrants provide quality advice, counsel and solutions to support their unit or organization.
Hopson enlisted in the Army in November 1989, and completed basic training and advanced through individual training at Fort Jackson in South Carolina.
His assignments include chief of logistics, George C. Marshall Center in Garmisch; presidential communications officer and deputy director of Logistics, White House Communications Agency (WHCA), Washington, D.C.; property book officer, HHC, division support command, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas; Property Book NCOIC, White House Communications Agency, Washington, D.C.; Battalion Supply (S4) NCO, HHC, 1st Battalion, 9th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas; Training NCO, 14th FSU, Bamberg, Germany; unit supply specialist, Bravo Company, 7th Battalion, 6th Infantry Regiment, 1st Armored Division, Bamberg.
Hopson’s operational deployments include Operation Desert Storm and Operation Intrinsic Action.
His education includes master of arts in government from John Hopkins University; bachelor of arts in history from Tarelton State University; Warrant Officer Advance Course (Honor Graduate); Warrant Officer Basic Course; Warrant Officer Candidate School (Commander’s List); Basic Noncommissioned Officer Course; Primary Leadership Development Course (Commandant’s List).

Hopson is married to Kathy Hopson, and is the son of Fred and Kathy Hopson.
