More donations are needed for a fundraiser that would benefit the victims of a fire at the former Cherry Hill plant, 77 S. Main St.

The Dec. 2 fire destroyed the building and the inventory of several small businesses that had located there the past couple of years.

Allison Nowakowski and Shawn Rice of Canadohta Lake are planning a fundraiser for Jan. 15 at 1 p.m. at the Union City Volunteer Fire Department Social Hall.

But Nowakowski said more help from the community is needed, or the event will be canceled.

Three bands are scheduled to perform, but Nowakowski and Rice have been asking the community members and businesses to chip in and help with snack items, refreshments and other donations for a Chinese auction.

Nowakowski said time is winding down.

“This is the last week to ask for food, beverages and other donations,” Nowakowski.

The deadline to make donations is Wednesday, Jan. 12.

Any individual or business member who would like to make a donation should call Nowakowski at 694-3150. Any band that would like to perform should call Rice at 694-3296.
