Vacation Bible school celebrates summer with Hawaiian party

Several local children participated in a seven-week vacation Bible school program sponsored by Loving Care Ministries and Friends of Erie County.

Loving Care Ministries and Friends of Erie County recently held a seven-week vacation Bible school program at Mead Park.

About 46 children attended the event that ended with a Hawaiian luau party. About 70 participants and their parents attended the party.

Loving Care Ministries founder Justene Harley and her husband were also in attendance for the luncheon of pizza, Hawaiian punch, chips, fruit and Hawaiian cake.

Devotions and prayers were given by Harley, and 13 volunteers handed out backpacks, school supplies and stuffed animals.

Children from Corry, Union City, Spartansburg, Ohio, Virginia, New Jersey and Kentucky participated in the vacation Bible school.

Activities included Bible stories, crafts, daily devotions and prayers.

“Helping Erie County has been a blessing to me,” Harley said. “We at Loving Care Ministries thank all of the volunteers who supported us through out the year.”

Volunteers for the program included Bobby Vaow, Doris Davis, Carly Seiersen, Carrie and Elton Miller, Heidi Raisin and Taylor Carter.
