Nominations are now being accepted for the Paul and Vera Meerdink Award for outstanding citizenship and moral character.

Letters of nomination should be limited to two pages (approximately 400 words) and should focus on why the nominee would be a worthy recipient of this award.

Nominators must identify themselves and describe the nature of their relationship with the nominee (i.e., parent, uncle, teacher, neighbor, friend, employer, pastor).

Nomination letters will eventually be forwarded to the nominated student unless stated otherwise.

Any person, except members of the current selection committee, may submit a letter of nomination. (Note: letters of nomination from members of the Meerdink family will be given the same consideration as any other nomination – no more, no less.)

The selection committee will review all letters, verifying factual information if necessary.

This award is not intended as a scholarship and therefore nominees do not have to plan to attend college in order to receive it.

Financial need will not be considered in selecting the award winner.

Students with special needs (i.e., disabling conditions of any kind) who are nominated will be given full consideration.

Only one award winner will be chosen each year.

Nominations must be turned in to the Corry Area High School guidance office no later than 3 p.m. on Friday, May 18.
