Corry Area High School senior Kyra Hammond has been chosen as the May Girl of the Month.
She was honored by members of Beta Sigma Phi.
Upon her high school graduation, Hammond plans to attend the University of Florida to major in biology.
She plans to pursue a career in physical therapy.
Hammond’s activities include the high school swim team, where she served as a team captain.
She is the recipient of several swimming awards, including Most Valuable Swimmer and Most Improved Swimmer, and she has been a district qualifier every year.
Hammond has also been involved in the Corry YMCA swim team, where she currently holds the record in the 200 meter breaststroke and the 200 meter freestyle relay.
She is also a member of the school track and field team.
Other activities include National Honor Society and Academic Decathlon.
Hammond had the chance to participate in a state Academic Decathlon this year with Corry’s state qualifying team.
She has been an honors student her entire high school career.
Hammond is the daughter of Howard Hammond and Kelli Hammond.
