Dinner benefit set for leukemia patient, 2

A chicken n’ biscuit benefit dinner for 2-year-old Lucas Morningstar will be served on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the American Legion in Corry.

Lucas, the son of Brooke and Dewey Morningstar, was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia on Feb. 23, and must now travel to Pittsburgh every Friday for chemotherapy treatments, a bone marrow biopsy and spinal tap.

Very soon, he will undergo chemotherapy four days a week and a visiting nurse will come to Lucas’ home each week to do blood work.

He must travel to Pittsburgh weekly for the next three years.

Cost to attend the benefit dinner is $8 for adults and $4 for children.

In addition to the meal, a 50/50 drawing and Chinese auction will be held.

All proceeds from the event will go toward Lucas’ medical, travel and lodging expenses.
