Wheaton Selected for Free Enterprise Week

Bleyxen Wheaton, a junior at Corry Area High School, has been granted a full scholarship to attend Pennsylvania Free Enterprise Week 2009 on the campus of Lycoming College in Williamsport.

Pennsylvania Free Enterprise is a weeklong economic education program that offers students an inside look at the private enterprise system and the way the free market functions.

Wheaton will attend week two of the four, one-week sessions offered this summer.

Pennsylvania teachers and counselors recommend the candidates who are then reviewed by the PFEW staff.

Admission is based on motivation to learn that is demonstrated through essays submitted by the applicants.

Those accepted are awarded scholarships, which cover all the program costs excluding a registration fee and transportation.

When students arrive, they are housed in dormitories to get a small taste of college life.

Wheaton is the daughter of Mark and Pamela Holmstrom of Corry.
