Zoe Melissa Bliss, 7, has a dream of one day joining her grandparents, Pal and Darlene Stevens of Spartansburg, on a mission trip to the Amazon River in Peru.

But for now, she wants to provide Bibles to children in the Amazon where some of the villages have one Bible for the entire population. And very few of those are children’s Bibles.

Zoe, a second grader at Pleasantville Elementary School in Titusville, would like to send 50 Bibles along with a toy for each one to Peruvian children for Christmas this year.

The cost of one Bible, a toy and postage is $10, for a total of $500.

To raise money, Zoe recently held a 5-mile walk-a-thon. She also visited area churches and gave presentations about her cause.

So far, Zoe has exceeded her goal and raised enough money for 118 Bibles and toys.

She has now raised her goal to 150 Bibles and will be collecting donations until the end of October.

She will be mailing the Bibles the first week of November.

Anyone who would like to help Zoe with her project may send donations to Zoe Bliss, c/o Darlene Stevens, 46073 Buells Corners Road, Spartansburg, PA 16434.

One hundred percent of the funds will be used toward Zoe’s effort.
