A free workshop focused on how disabled individuals can combine work with their disability benefits is scheduled for the Corry Higher Education Council in November.
“Work Incentives for Persons with Disabilities” is being offered by the Erie office of Pennsylvania CareerLink, in cooperation with the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation (OVR).
The first opportunity is Monday, Nov. 16 at 2 p.m., with a registration deadline of Wednesday, Nov. 11 at noon.
The second opportunity is Monday, Nov. 23 at 2 p.m., with a registration deadline of Wednesday, Nov. 18 at noon.
Both workshops (which cover the same information) will take place at the Smith Education Center, 221 N. Center St., Corry.
The workshop is intended for individuals receiving Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and/or Supplemental Security Income (SSI), as well as agency staff supporting clients with disabilities. An OVR representative will be in attendance.
The workshop is geared to promote the benefits of employment and to encourage beneficiaries to seek employment, learn how benefits are affected by employment, and the safeguards in place to maintain benefits while employed. Reasons to attend and to seek employment include greater independence, more income, learning new skills and meeting new people.
To register for either workshop, call the Corry Higher Education Council at 664-9405 by the deadlines listed. For more information about the workshops, contact the Erie office of PA CareerLink, at 455-9966.
