Thumbs up to all those involved in the 2nd annual Garland Gala. All proceeds benefited the Garland Fire Department. I crossed paths with a former Journal co-worker, Alyssa Savitz Hodak. She now has two children, ages 1 and 3.

Afterward at Double D’s, everyone was impressed with the fancy hats worn by Katie and Jules on Kentucky Derby Day.

I enjoyed my return trip to Warren for yesterday’s track meet (I worked there for 18 years). I ran into so many familiar faces, Jim Eggleston, Mark Sweet, Ray Swanson and Art Zerbe. I covered many football games, soccer matches and track meets at War Memorial Field.

Jim Moats says he was impressed with attending the Jennie Finch softball camp, where he met the former U.S. softball pitcher. It was in South Glens Falls, N.Y.

Congrats to Kaity Brown on earning her master's degree in physician assistance.  And to neighbor Mike Anderson for his MMM - master’s of manufacturing management from Penn State Behrend.

Oops. Brenda Catalfu's birthday was in February.

Joni Catalfu’s birthday was yesterday, along with Bob-o Hunt and Clymer’s Brian Sullivan who is proud of his track star, Henry Sullivan. CMH’s director of nursing Terry Delellis celebrates on Thursday.

Friday birthdays belong to Nate Fralick and Chandalyn Reichert.

Jim & Jim (Hill & Aikens) are playing at the Elks Club tonight from 6:30-9:30 p.m. — and it’s open to the public.

Belated 30th birthday wishes to Julia (Andrus) Coseo.

The Pink Racks girls are selling “thirst” tickets, a fundraiser for the Corry Memorial Hospital Oncology Department. The drawing is on May 21.

The new Kim Bloom says a big thank you to all those helping at her wedding to Tom this past Saturday.

Sympathy to the family and friends of Joe Steen, Kim Cambra’s father. There’s a celebration of life for him on Saturday at 4 p.m. at the Corry American Legion.

The taco bar fundraiser for Corry’s scholastic trap team is tomorrow from 4-8 p.m. at the VFW.

The Corry Walmart is holding a “Kid’s Day” on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be games, prizes and a bounce house, with two bicycles to be given away. It benefits Relay for Life.
