The 2016 Little Miss Frozen contest will have a bigger and better look this year, with the Friday, Feb. 5, event moving to the newly renovated Relevant Church on 100 W. South St. (the old Market Basket grocery store).

Girls who reside in the Corry Area School District and are ages 5 to 8 are invited to participate. Forms are available at The Corry Journal front office, 28 W. South St., or at the Hi-Ed Building, 221 N. Center St. Deadline for registration is Friday, Jan. 22.

This 6 p.m. event is part of WinterFest, which is sponsored by Impact Corry.

Tom Brady was one of a kind. In addition to being a great business man, he was a big sports fan, especially attending local events like football and baseball games. I saw him so many times tooling along in his wheelchair to get into position to watch his grandsons play. He was always personable wherever he went.

Good luck to class of 1969er Lenny Migliaccio on his recent retirement. Will he join wife Lucy in Florida?

It’s a red-letter day Sunday when Red Komenda turns 25 — backwards.

The annual Pigs in the Blanket Dinner is set for Sunday, Jan. 31. It runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at St. Elizabeth Center. Takeouts are available and home deliveries will be made within the city limits. Phone 664-9187.

Belated birthday wishes to Brittany Derry, and it really is OK to be 23.

Steve Holton will be partying today on his birthday. Kelly Skalos celebrates tomorrow. Joe Shamburg’s big day is on Monday — Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

I've learned that former Journal page designer Alissa Savitz Hodak is now a waitress at Deer Head Inn, which is drawing rave reviews since it has re-opened.

Peggy and Clyde Earls would like to wish their daughter, Margaret, and her husband, Mike Carter, a happy 25th anniversary on Monday.

Don’t forget that today at the high school is the big “pink-out” basketball game with the Lady Beavers taking on Titusville — coached by Corry grad Jenny Troup.

Kudos to Maggie Bemis for winning one of The Journal’s football picking contest. Maybe she can take her husband, Dan, out for dinner.

Amanda (Minnick) Swank turned 30 this week. Hard to believe it but big Joe Triscari will be 73 years young this Wednesday.

Glad to hear that Mark May (the dad) is out of the hospital.

I guess there’s a Christmas tree with the lights on 24/7 at the old Corry Memorial Hospital.

Finally, thumbs up to Tom Vogler who was a little sore yesterday. That’s because he shoveled out four fire hydrants. Residents are reminded to do so in their neighborhoods. It could help prevent a serious fire.
