Everyone was raving about the fireworks display and the grand finale Thursday night at the American Legion. Kudos to the Corry Arts Council (and Tuna) for organizing things there, and at city park for the daylong activities there. I can’t believe that Leroy Babcock did not win the hot dog eating contest though he had plenty to take home.

I ran into Corry native Joe Nichols at the golf tourney at Peek'n Peak. He's been home a couple of weeks, still lives in Florida and is a former Corry Dogs soccer player. He was headed to the cornhole tournament at the city park.

Sorry to see that Terry McCaslin, 63, passed away on Tuesday. He was born in Corry on March 22, 1956. He moved to Jamestown N.Y., in the late 70s. His brothers are Craig and Danny McCaslin of Corry.

Sympathy to the family and friends on the passing of Barb (Norton) Pelc.

I saw the photo, so it's a fact. Becca Sacchetti can now drive a road roller at highway construction sites.

And I also saw that Bill Hammerlee (Marsha Marsh's brother) had an albino deer cross in front of him while bike riding in Erie.

Paul Kubich tells me he visited my uncle Willard McCray. They have talked agriculture for years.

Today is my cousin Judy (McCray) Miller’s birthday along with Stephanie Donoghue. Celebrating tomorrow is Roger Minnick and on Monday Dustin Taubert, Tom Neylon and Linda Gregory. Tuesday birthdays belong to John Wotus, Mike Lesher, Dawn Jaquith and Crystal Manross.

The Greek Festival is going on in Erie this weekend.

They had cookies in the press box at Bracken Field the other day. When I asked tournament director Brian Patten about them, he noted that my wife had made them. Brian tells me that Johnson Street neighbors always lend a helping hand.

Happy anniversary to Cathy and Craig McCaslin.

The 24th annual Hubert S. Vaughn memorial breakfast and Corry Airport fly-in and cruise-in is set for Sunday, July 21. It’s all you can eat, plus aircraft and classic cars. And there’s helicopter and airplane rides.
