The Corry VFW is hosting a special Valentine's Day event Friday with food specials and the popular musical group The Jays.

Corry Moose Lodge No. 98 is hosting a WOTM breakfast this Sunday from 8-11 a.m. before the Daytona 500 party shown on a big screen.

The American Legion has a Valentine’s Day special menu and again will host a big Daytona 500 party with a soup and chili cook-off.

I'm told that Corry Little League registration for baseball and softball has been extended to this Sunday. You can sign up in person at the Corry Public Library or do so online.

Looking ahead? The Beaver Baseball Bash is on March 14 at the Moose Club.

The Corry Area Chamber of Commerce's 2nd annual $1,500 reverse raffle is set for Feb. 29 at the Moose Club. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., dinner at 6:30 p.m. with the drawings beginning at 7:30 p.m. There will be sideboards, 50/50 tickets, baskets and a ‘plethora’ of other fun events.

Debbie DeAngelo, RNC and holistic health coach, will share simple, every day wellness tips that make a difference at the relevant church on Saturday, Feb. 15, from 10 a.m. to noon. Registration is at 9:30 a.m. with free blood pressure screenings.

It was nice to see Tom Santo in Corry Monday helping to do the radio broadcast of the Warren at Corry girls basketball game.

Jerry Fisher’s birthday is today, Judy Babcock and Dawn Nefstead celebrate tomorrow, Alicia Young’s on Friday, Derek McCray on Saturday.

Kudos to those many volunteers who helped make the Swimania and two kids wrestling tournaments at the high school such a big success. Most people don't know how much hard work goes into those events and that often the work takes place behind the scenes.

Did you know that Union City wrestler Marshall VanTassel has a major connection to Corry? His grandfather, Paul Burrows, was a section champ for the Beavers in both 1976 and ‘77. Paul was also a District 10 champ in 1977.
