Jean Johnson touched so many people’s lives, young and old. She was a wife, mother, teacher at Wright and Concord schools and, most of all, a friend to many. She was a talented pianist and vocalist who often impressed listeners when she performed. Jean was married to Dave Johnson (the city engineer) for 58 years. Some of us were lucky enough to know her. She passed away on Oct. 11.

Kudos to Barb Volk for cooking all the food for Saturday’s memorial dinner at the VFW and for Sunday’s NFL games. Steve Diduch really liked the fruit cup.

Ralph Amoroso must think Joe Montana or Steve Young is running the show again as the San Francisco 49ers keep rolling on.

There’s a big birthday on Saturday when Gerri Cragg turns 91 on the 19th. Gerri was at the girls volleyball match along with Uncle Dick (who is from the Lakeview area).

CAHS standout Hayden Linkerhof was at the Super 32 wrestling tournament in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Harbor Creek will be honoring veterans and service members on Friday at the Military Appreciation Game as the Huskies host the Corry Beavers. Just present a military ID, driver’s license (that indicates veteran status) or DD214.

The Corry Girls Soccer Boosters are holding a fundraiser breakfast on Sunday from 8-11 a.m. at the Corry VFW.

The benefit for Debbie Gates is on Sunday, Nov. 3, from 2-6 p.m. at the Corry VFW.

Hultman and Barb Trio will appear at North Hills on Thursday at 7 p.m. They play traditional bluegrass, Gnarles Barkley, Billy Joel, Hendrix, swing, Dylan and more. The lineup is Barb Schwartz on banjo and vocals, Karl Schwartz on bass and vocals and Carl Hultman on guitar and vocals.
