Sorry to see that Mercyhurst North East is closing down. It has been a solid connection for Corry athletes. The Whiteley sisters were standouts in soccer for the Saints, Alex Puckly was outstanding in softball. Hope Hasbrouck and Rachel Brenner are on the current MNE volleyball team. Corry's baseball teams played at the college that once was a seminary.
Sad to see the closing of Perkins and knowing that Country Foods, Al's Dairy Bar when I was a kid, is also a memory of our past. The Perkins in Warren also closed yesterday.
Also closing was Ruby Tuesday's in Lakewood, N.Y., following nearby Alfie's and Craft Burgers and Brews.

The 26th Annual Edinboro Highland Games & Scottish Festival is this week.
An old-fashioned Rally Day will be held at the First Presbyterian Church on Sunday at 9 a.m. All ages are welcome and those who attend are asked to bring a breakfast tureen to share. Centers will be set up in fellowship hall for fun activities — crafts and games — followed by the 10 a.m. worship service.
