The Hope Center is still taking clothing donations for its school clothes giveaway. They can be dropped off Monday- Friday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. at 160 W. Smith St., Corry. The center will take donations until Aug. 14.

The community yard sales on Saturday was a major attraction. Cars were parked everywhere. I even saw an Amish buggy dropping off people and then parking at NAPA.

Corry Country Club golf pro Greg Gurdak is all smiles these days announcing he’s going to be a father. His brother, Eric — the club pro at Jackson Valley Country Club — now has two daughters.

Rockin’ for Relay is set for Corry Manor on Friday, Aug. 12, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The survivor dinner is at noon, and you must RSVP to Stephanie Donnell or Shawna Sherwood at 664-9606.

There will be basket raffles, cancer awareness items, kids games and light refreshments.

Brian Patten spent last week with his dad in Syracuse and it was the best part of his summer. However, his dog, Gidget, really missed him.

Happy anniversary to Staci (Anderson) and Nick Samuels, and to Rachel and Kelly Cragg (it’s hard to believe it — 30 years).

Belated 30th birthday wishes to Brandon Mitchell.

Leroy Babcock, Corry’s ‘other’ mayor, turns 57 today.

Happy 95th birthday to Elizabeth Wascak, Carol Huffman’s mom.

Kevin Williams, Mark Majewski (my brother-in-law) and Linda Rhodes have birthdays tomorrow, Collean Moats on Thursday. Friday birthdays belong to Jim Moats, Alex Shopene, Tara Whiteley and Tracy Lee.

Steve Morse has sponsored Scott Gurdak's racing for a long time. “It’s a great family run program,” he claims. “His brother-in-law is crew chief. His sister does all the book work and more. His brother and nephew own and maintain a pro-mod car. They are great people to be associated with.”

Prayers for Dorothy Baressi.

Glenn Mead Day is Sunday at Mead Park from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. There's even free train rides.

The Corry cheerleaders have a car wash and bake sale on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Advance Auto.

Belated birthday wishes to John Styborski. Will he make a return to the Edinboro Highland Games?

I saw Ashley Ongley getting ready for Saturday's "back to school" event at the VFW. It's free and kids will also have a bounce house, face painting and plenty of fun — plus those backpacks and school supplies.

I see that Ryann Brundage and Abby Whitaker are still doing shows. Ryann has been working at Alexander's in Findley Lake this summer, and this is her last week.

Happy 13th anniversary to Autumn and Brett Sproveri.

Playing Thursday at North Hills Golf Course are Jeff Cox and Mike Berry from 7 to 9 p.m.
