Snookie Bailey turns 81 years young today. And how about this: 80 years ago she was Corry's New Year's baby for 1940. She's Tammy Crowther's mom. It's also Ron Rairie's special day (he's a DuBois grad, so he's still a Beaver) along with Union City all-state wrestler Marshall VanTassel. Celebrating tomorrow are international runner and wine maker Julie Krone plus Kathy Silvis. Betsy Grinder's birthday is on Monday. Belated New Year's birthday wishes to Doug Grinder and Dan Benson.

I see that Yulonda Theuret is now working at the Wine & Spirits Store in Corry.

I joined the Roberto Clemente Fan Club the other day. I noticed a couple of familiar names on the list. One is recently retired Edinboro University sports administrator Todd Jay and another is Bob Shreve. He's the PA announcer at Erie SeaWolves baseball games and at District 10 girls softball games. Also joining in are Zac and Rich Shopene, LJ Frisina, Terry Maloney, Dan Gates, Jeb Becker and Lauren Shreve.

As Dan Bemis recovers, his son Patrick will re-open Cutting Lanes on Jan. 4.

Dr. Duane Dunnewold is retiring after 51 years at Tri-County Vet Clinic in Clymer. Here's wishing him the best in his retirement years.

I see that Penn State University student-athlete Ryann Brundage had a 3.95 grade point average.

Chan Cummings, who shares a birthday with me, is in Tucson this year. Her son Bobby and his wife Ashley blessed the family with a beautiful baby girl. Charlie Rose Cummings was born Dec. 20 weighing in at a whopping 6 pounds and 4 ounces. Mommy, Daddy and baby are doing great, Chan says. "She's already hanging out on daddy's lap learning all the moves about daddy's favorite teams," she notes.

Belated sweet 16 birthday wishes to the amazing young singer Ryah Lambert.

And 17th anniversary wishes to Ashley and Joe Frisina.

There weren't many New Year's parties, but that didn't stop Alexander's in Findley Lake. They did an Irish New Year, since at 7 p.m. here it was midnight in Ireland.

I see the Corry Otters swim team is doing a swimsuit challenge -- in the snow. The videos are interesting and chilling.

Thanks to Brad Allen at Rossbacher Insurance Group for the large wall calendar featuring some great photos by Barb Beebe — her specialty in black and white. Anne Gates also posts some outstanding photos.

Anything from the new year? It has to better in 2021. Email me at rlmccray@thecorryjournal.com.
