Need a laugh? Comedy night is set for the Elks Club tonight. Tickets are $15 a person or $25 a couple and are available at the Elks.

Lynne Bemis, who once coached the Clymer bowling team, is back bowling at Cutting Lanes.

Bonna Oyer spent May to October in Corry but is now back in Florida. She lives in Pembroke Pines (a few miles north of Miami). It took a total of 1,745 miles on her way back as she made several stops to see friends and family along the way. Bonna is also a Geneva College product (1968) and graduated from Corry High School in 1964.

The VFW is holding a Mexican night on Monday from 5-8 p.m. with dine in or takeout.

Mark "Omar" Chase made a trip to Wooster, Ohio, the other day to see his new grandson, Malacki Jude Galbreath, the son of Ashley and Mark Galbreath. He was born Oct. 21.

Corry's First Presbyterian Church is offering a free Thanksgiving Day meal from 1-3 p.m. Reservations are required by calling 814-964-0378 to reserve a spot.

The holiday food drive is this Wednesday and it's a drive-thru format at Corry's Northwest Bank.

The 16th annual YMCA Charity Auction is on Dec. 3 at the Fork & Barrel. That's also the day of  A Very Merry Hometown Christmas Craft Show running at the YMCA with free admission. The Reindeer Drive-Thru is Dec. 4-5 at Mead Park from 6-9 p.m.

With Veterans Day behind us, here's something you may not have known. Instead of playing winter ball in Puerto Rico during the 1958-59 offseason, Roberto Clemente served in the United States Marine Corps Reserves. He spent six months of his military commitment at Parris Island, S.C., and Camp Lejeune in North Carolina.

Get-well wishes to photographers Jeff and Tammie Parkin.

Finally, kudos to The Corry Journal Sports Stream team for broadcasting the girls PIAA volleyball match from near Pittsburgh the other night. Several people said they couldn't drive that far but the stream was almost like being there. Too bad the Lady Beavers fell but it was another great season for the coaches and players, especially the six seniors.
