I saw on TV that Jim Roddy has written a new book called "The Walk-on Method" about walk-ons making it big in college and thereafter. My vote goes to Corry grad Mike Lukac who scored four touchdowns his senior season at Penn State back in 2002. Mike still lives in State College and is now in medical sales. He and his wife Heather have four children ages 7 to 13. "He keeps up with all their sports and activities," according to his mother Paula. "Mike coaches midget football in the fall."

A pat on the back to those places who offered takeout food over the past three weeks, especially "Korny" who worked by himself this past Saturday at the American Legion.

Sympathy to the family and friends of Bert Kuzma. I met her several years ago when she worked here at The Journal. She always wore shorts and I'd compliment her on her legs.

With high school sports resuming, Corry Athletic Director Mike Daniels must be pulling his hair out with scheduling. "I'm trying to make lemonade out of lemons," he admits.

I see that Hannah Espinosa has become quite a photographer. She had some great pics of the Goodsel family.

There will be a celebration of life service for Jim Becker this Saturday at the Corry Christian and Missionary Alliance Church. Times are 11 a.m. to noon for visiting hours and the memorial service at noon.

Winger Suites is opening in Februrary upstairs and the storefront is being transformed into Williams Place.  Williams Place (formerly Something Special) will offer a full service retreat center. The Corry High School Alumni Association Board members wish Bob and Theresa May of Something Special good luck as they start 2021 as retired.

Kudos to the Huya family on Ridge Street. They won first place and received $1,000 in the Christmas light display contest sponsored by the Gertrude Barber Center. It was announced on Erie News Now on Monday.

My neighbor and former Corry football coach Brian Patten had a blind date for Christmas and came home with a Dachsund puppy (no name yet) to keep his other wiener dog Gidget company. Brian will be keeping score for Union City in Saturday night's basketball game in Corry.

Becky Frazier notes this was the first New Year's Eve she did not have to work in 40 years.

Now that it's 2021, can we look back with 2020 vision?

Happy birthday today to Tonja and Mike Schrecengost, tomorrow to Shannon Hicks and former Corry football coach and AD Homer DeLattre. Marj Willison and Dave Cambra celebrate on Thursday while Friday is the big day for Wimp Daniels, Dale Willink and Chris Faulkner.
