Union City graduate Herb Combs has been promoted to associate athletic director for facilities management and operation at Penn State University. He will oversee the day-to-day management of Penn State Intercollegiate athletics' facilities and operations. Combs has been assistant athletic director for facilities and grounds since 2016. Among his many accomplishments, Combs managed capital projects at Beaver Stadium, Panzer Stadium, Holuba Hall and the field hockey complex. He also serves as the game day operations manager for home football games. Prior to coming to Penn State, Combs spent three years at the University of Minnesota as an assistant athletic groundskeeper and facilities manager. Combs graduated from Penn State with a degree in turfgrass science in 2002. Combs played on the Union City back-to-back championship basketball teams in 1996-97 and recently became member of the UC wall of achievement He has a Corry connection. He coaches Mike and Heather Lukac's son's hockey team.

Kudos to the women of the Corry Moose. Megan and Joanne delivered Christmas baskets to Corry Manor, Cambridge Corry and Groves Personal Care Home along with individual bags loaded with goodies for those who have no family.

Birthday wishes today to Angie Mitchell. Janelle Craft celebrates tomorrow, Corry summer time transplant from Arizona Denny Brown on Monday and Kelli Hammond on Tuesday.

Erie County Fair Junior Miss Erica Fisher turned 13 on Friday. Her mom Laura notes that she’s officially a teenager. Drivers be aware. Caleb Marrs passed his test on Friday morning.

As winter begins today, and the year ends, it’s also the end of a decade. Let’s hope for better things ahead.
