Sunday was the birthday for the United States Marine Corps. It was a special day for some of the local Marines who gathered at the Corry VFW. Herb Berghaus, 81, was born in Germany and served from 1958-61. Paul Griebel, 90, went in the Marines in the mid 40s. Rex Nichols was in from 1954-57. Tom Stroup, 85, served from 1953-56 (and still loves to talk about ponds and fishing). Dick Bova served from 1953-56. He tells me that his wife still runs the flower shop from their home on East Smith Street. Semper Fi to all Marines, past and present.

Sympathy to the families and friends of Howard "Woody" Goodwill and Ellen Pasi, one of the longtime queens of Hillcrest Drive.
