Corry Area High School grad Kenny Nichols has been a big hit on the baseball field, and in the classroom. His team, the Prince George’s Community College Owls, had another great season. Kenny was a utility player and even pitched. He has earned NJCAA All-Academic third team award. Winners must have a grade point average between 3.60 and 3.79. This summer he’s playing ball for the Barons.

According to reliable sources, Haley Kurelowech is now playing volleyball at California University (Pa.). And Emily Sonntag is joining Davia Fisher to play softball at Penn State New Kensington. Davia also plans on playing basketball. And Lexi Cubero says she may be going to Slippery Rock.

The date for next year's Alumni Dinner has been set. It's June 13, 2020, and won’t coincide with CorryFest. Grads from classes ending zero or 5 will be in the spotlight.

Belated anniversary wishes to Pat and Kelly Goodsel (no. 24), Brian and Sara Sullivan along with Mike and Kylee Maedje.

Belated birthday wishes to Julie Maloney, Brenda Carey and Jim Becker from Monday, and to Judy Lathrop and Jackie Sampsell from Tuesday. My neighbor, Teri Volk, celebrates on Friday. Sorry to see her daughter Rachel has another broken ankle and will be in a boot for 4-6 weeks. Hope she’s walking in time for her brother’s wedding.

Best wishes to Gene Vinca and George Sveda. There are cards to sign at the VFW.

This is a repeat. If there are no baseball or softball results in the paper, it's because no one turned them in. Simple as that.

Sorry to learn of the passing of 1969 classmate Tom Rathbun.

Rev. Ed Rose claims you can't keep a good man down.

Stan Komenda tells me that there are 12 seats left on a bus trip for Aug. 4 baseball game in Cleveland. You can sign up at Corry VFW.

Some final questions. Are you enjoying the heat? Is this the dog days of summer? Are you watching fireworks for the 4th?
