Despite the rain, the Aaron Murphy golf benefit at North Hills was a big success. "We had 120 players and 30 guests, and no one complained about the weather," said Taree Hamilton, one of the organizers. "We had a great wood carving made by Scott Dow that went for over $400."

A big high five for Mallory Jaquith who spent the summer at Fort Jackson, S.C., for Army basic training. She’s doing her senior year now and then will go to AIT, possibly in Texas. Mallory is the daughter of Denise and Brock Jaquith, the granddaughter of Cindy and Roy Hall and and Pete Jaquith.  

The Corry High School 146th alumni meeting is set for Sept. 21  at 7 p.m. at the VFW Pavilion and is not open to the public. This meeting (no dinner) and will be broadcast live on the Corry High School Alumni Facebook page.

Prayers for Aidan Mack, Tom and Anne Mack’s son. He’s currently at Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh for treatment. The Mercyhurst Prep soccer player is related to the Zaphirises and Shopenes. His 17th birthday is tomorrow.

Also, get-well wishes for 1969 classmate Lenny Migliaccio.

Sympathy to the family and friends of Stanley Sander. And for Sharon "SheB" Aikens. They'll be missed.

There's a blood drive tomorrow at Corry Memorial Hospital from noon to 4 p.m. A photo ID is required and walk-ins are welcome.

The New Life Restoration Center is collecting winter boots and coats for those in need. There will be donation boxes in NAPA, Fox's/Sam's Restaurant, House of Television and Mystic Salon. The donations will end Sept. 26 so that they can be cleaned for distribution on Oct. 3 at 104 W. Smith St. Call Penny at 384-7490 or Jerry Fisher at 384-8449 with any questions. 

Kerrie Brown, Diane Miller and Emery Faith have birthdays today, Les Utegg, umpire Garry Sargent and Rob Hellyer tomorrow. Barb Beebe, Becky Benson, Nate Kornikoski, Uncle Dick Whitcomb and Bonnie Warnshuis celebrate on Thursday.

That benefit for 13-year-old Avery Sontheimer is Thursday from 4:30-7:30 p.m. at St. Elizabeth Parish Center.

The Jays will be playing in the VFW dining room Friday from 7:30-11:30 p.m. This dance is for members and guests only with dinner specials from 4-7:30 p.m.

Happy anniversary today to Jamie and Aaron Cressley (their first) and to Cindy and Bob Swart (not their first).
