Amy and Steve Nalepa are retiring this month and are getting ready to downsize. Steve left Corry Area High School after the 1996-97 school year, compiling some impressive records on the basketball court. His Lady Beavers won three ECL titles (1993, ’94 and ’95) and districts in 1993-94.  Steve has been the Senior Regional Business Executive at AbbVie. His wife Amy is the sister of Jen Lesher, Mike's wife. Steve introduced them to each other.

Thanks to Cindy Wood and Jan Bemis for this one on the history of Spring Creek. In 1976 a local group of artists performed Midsummer Night's Dream in the horse barn at the Clough Farm. The group was called the Brokenstraw Players. The play was a huge success and played to a packed barn three nights running.

The Corry Class of 1964 plans to have its annual mini reunion at Jack and Nan McIntyre's on Aug. 15.  Keep an eye on their Facebook page for details and for any last minute changes due to necessary restrictions.

Attention Todd Peterson: four performances of “A Year with Frog and Toad” by Warren Players set for last weekend at Struthers Library Theatre were canceled due to virus concerns.

Tim Zojonc usually tells me "This is not paper worthy." The other night, seeing me wearing my mask, said "this is really paper worthy. You look better with a mask on."

Jordan Sabat turned 26 today while his younger brother Alex recently passed his driver's test.

Tom Wolf and Tim Curtis have birthdays on Thursday, Amy Allen and Jason Hellenschmidt on Friday. My neighbor, Vicki Anderson, celebrated yesterday.

Kudos to Bobbi Williams for starting a post of former neighborhood stores in Corry. There were over 250 comments and so may memories from the 50s, 60s and 70s.

Get-well wishes to Brent Deuink and Joyce McChesney. Many of you may remember Joyce as the clubhouse sketch artist and co-founder of Spring Creek Frontier Golf Course (now Creekside Golf). Prior to that she co-owned and operated the McChesney Lumber company on Route 426 for nearly 40 years with her husband.

The VFW is holding Mexican Night on Thursday from 4:30-7:30 p.m.

Some advice to Moose Dunnewold — beware of the bees.

Happy 44th anniversary to Judy and Paul Goodwill. Their son Jeff is the Corry head football coach.

Finally, Corry's trap team won the national title this past weekend. But due to this COVID-19 the kids did not get to experience being on the championship podium. So there will be an award ceremony this Saturday at 1 p.m. outside at the Corry Rod and Gun Club. Those attending should wear a mask and keep social distancing.
