Here is, as Paul Harvey used to say, the rest of the story. The new Winger Suites & Williams Place got its name because in 1922, the building was called Winger-Williams before it became Wing Willi Star Stores in 1939. It became Flye Rexall Drugs in 1957 and most recently Something Special. Holly Kirik Vollant and her family are running the suites and her mom, Brenda Kirik, is running the shop and retreat center.

Kudos to the newest Pennsylvania State Policeman Corry grad Jacques "Jay" Rouqeau. I understand it's been a lifelong dream of his. It's a great accomplishment.

Sympathy to the family and friends of Gene Stoddard. I believe he was a journalism teacher at Edinboro University. I used to work with him at the Union City Lanes and he ran Mr. B's on Route 6. He often was smoking his pipe.

I see that Ralph Amoroso and Roger Grape got the vaccine shot at the Erie VA Hospital.

I'm told that Preston Eshelman has received a special merit badge. His sister Shannon said he deserved to receive it many years ago. It came from his brother Nathan who is a minister in California.

How old are you? Old enough to remember when Harley Drake was police chief in Corry, J. Fred Kinley was mayor, Ray Amy was manager of Powell Loan and Finance Co., Paul C. Roche was president of Erie County Plastics, Jim Hammond was president of the Corry Chamber of Commerce and Stewart "Doc" Long the manager? The book I found was from 1961, Corry's centennial year. One more, Citizens National Bank, called "The Bank on The Corner," had Charles H. Bracken as president. I also noticed that The Fountainette was open 24 hours daily and Rossbacher Insurance was founded by Richard Rossbacher in 1928.

Scott Merkle's birthday is today, Angie Whaley's tomorrow. Rachel Tasker and Shannon Eshelman celebrate on Monday.

Belated wishes to Nick Conley, Janet Monn and Lucas Peterson who all had birthdays yesterday.

Get well wishes to class of 1969er Jane Galbreath Cowell who fell and may have broken her clavicle.

Youth bowling began today at Bowl-Aire Lanes with Mary Norton again in charge. She should get an award for volunteering for several decades.

Congrats to Dave Schwabenbauer and Jordan Schrecengost for winning their fantasy football league championship. Thanks to Mike and Joe Schrecengost for supervising the league that has been running for at least 30 years.

Sparky Ross tells me the Union City American Legion is having a food special for Sunday's Browns vs. Steelers game, and they are having a Super Bowl party.

There's a breakfast at the Corry VFW tomorrow from 9-11 a.m. and there's an "appreciation party" on Sunday, Jan. 17, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
